At the mention of lesbians an homosexuals, a guy in his late twenties/early thirties said “god help them”. Both things upset me a lot. Rights? I thought he would say marriage because that’s the common thing to say about the topic, but rights? Don’t they deserve rights? Does it say on the declaration of independence that all men are created equal and have unalienable Rights as Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness … except lesbians and gays? It upset me to no end how the word “right” was pushed out into everyone’s ears without much thought. I’d like to think that instead of thinking that he really thinks a person doesn’t deserve universal rights because of their sexual orientation, or genre, or race. Because, come on, the agnostic government also gave rights to women and African-Americans, right? The agnostic government should burn in hell for that as well?<br/><br/>After that, I stayed upset for a while, until the pastor asked everyone that believed and didn’t believe in god to go up front to pray. I didn’t get up. Not because I don’t believe in god, because I do, but because I’m, apparently, agnostic and how am I going to force someone with different beliefs than mine to pray for me? As they prayed up front, I slowly stopped being upset and instead I felt sad. No, not sad at the lesbians and homosexuals he talked about and how they’re “condemned” but about them, all of them praying up front.<br/><br/>I was sad because it is sad. It’s sad to think that, when any of them sees two men or two women holding hands, they’ll think “god, help them” or “they’re going straight to hell”.<br/><br/>Me? The agnostic living in an agnostic country?
